DeAllen Burgess is a Journalist and Independent Video Producer based in the Atlanta Metropolitan area. With more than 25 years of experience in Television News and Independent Production, DeAllen is more than honored to serve as the Director of Public Relations & Media for Marching To Harmony, Inc.

“The mission of the organization is what really blows me away,” says Burgess. “Helping to develop young people and yet working to keep the arts alive at the same time – it’s a dream come true!” Burgess has been involved with Atlanta-area high school marching bands since the year 2015 – when he first helped promote a Dekalb County battle of the bands event called, “The Marching Band Extravaganza.” This event was put on at James R. Hallford stadium in Clarkston, Georgia.

“The battle of the bands was initially conceived as a business endeavor. However, once we realized the potential impact on the children and the participating school band programs – we quickly redirected our focus towards more of a charitable approach.” Burgess and his promoting partners gave a huge portion of ticket sales revenues back to the booster organizations of each of the respective schools that performed in the event. “It was an awesome feeling to see large sums of money go back to the kids and to the music programs.” Burgess says it was an illuminating moment. “The light bulb came on and it came on glaringly bright! I definitely wanted to be a part of a movement that helps children and keeps the fine art of music alive in school systems at the same time! Where do I sign up?”

Burgess is delighted to be a part of the Marching To Harmony, Inc. staff. “After covering fires, shootings, drownings and fatal accidents for twenty-one years in local television news, this nonprofit work is a refreshing change of pace. The people I work with at Marching To Harmony, Inc. have a enormous love for music as an art form. They also have an equally massive love for helping and developing young people through music.” DeAllen Burgess attended college at Florida A&M University from 1989 to 1993 – majoring in Broadcast Journalism. He worked at TV stations in Georgia, North Carolina and Florida from 1993 to 2014 – at which time he went full-time with his independent production company called Platform TV & Media.

Platform TV & Media is a boutique production company that specializes in commercials and promotional videos for small business, churches and motivational speakers.
