​Devin R. James is an accomplished music educator, program director, and arts advocate dedicated to empowering young people through the transformative power of music and performance. Devin serves as the Director of Bands of Salem High School. He has 25 years of teaching experience. He attended South Carolina State University and served as Drum Major with the famed “Marching 101 Band”. He has a Master of Education from Southern Wesleyan University. Devin did his Doctoral Studies in Educational Leadership at Walden University. As the CEO of Marching To Harmony, Inc., he leads an organization committed to providing performance opportunities, scholarships, and mentorship to student musicians across the region.

 

With years of experience in band leadership and music education, Devin has built and developed successful marching band and percussion programs known for their discipline, musical excellence, and community impact. His leadership style emphasizes character development, teamwork, and artistic expression, helping students grow both on and off the field.

 

Under his direction, Marching To Harmony, Inc. has expanded its reach through community performances, educational initiatives, and its annual scholarship tour, creating pathways for students to pursue higher education and careers in the arts.

 

Devin is also a passionate advocate for equitable access to the performing arts. He is actively working to establish a performing arts center in the eastern metropolitan area of Rockdale and DeKalb Counties, aimed at providing a dedicated space for youth development, rehearsals, and community engagement.

 

Through his work, Devin R. James continues to inspire the next generation of musicians while strengthening the cultural and educational landscape of his community.
